Women’s Awards Evening
- Victoria Molyneux scoops four awards for her efforts in 2021.
- Georgia Wilson wins Top Try Scorer for her 13 scores this season.
- Kaitlin Hilton takes home Young Player of the Year.
Wigan Warriors Women hosted their annual end of season awards evening on Saturday evening, with three worthy winners taking home awards for their contributions in 2021.
Player of the Year, Coaches Award and Warrior of the Year (Katie’s Award) – Victoria Molyneux
Warriors loose forward and Vice Captain, Victoria Molyneux, was the star of the show as she took home a number of awards after an emphatic season which saw her recalled to the England set-up for the first time in 14 years.
With 11 appearances and 6 tries, Molyneux was awarded Player of the Year from the Warriors staff, Coaches award from Head Coach Kris Ratcliffe as well as Warrior of the Year as picked by the trophy sponsor Katie’s Yard. A true Warrior, on and off the field, Molyneux was a stand-out figure for Wigan in 2021.
Players’ Player of the Year – Victoria Molyneux
Molyneux also picked up Players’ Player of the Year with a fantastic 63% of the vote, which shows how highly regarded the Vice Captain is by her fellow teammates. Molyneux has excelled in her second season at Wigan, showing a great level of leadership and dedication, earning her the award.
Young Player of the Year – Kaitlin Hilton
Kaitlin Hilton joined the Warriors in 2021, making her debut against a big Featherstone Rovers team away from home. The youngster, who came from amateur side Orrell St James’ to Wigan showed great courage in her 4 appearances in Cherry & White and never backed down from a challenge.
Top Try Scorer – Georgia Wilson
With 13 tries in 2021, Georgia Wilson took home the Top Try Scorer award. Wilson scored 5 in the opening game of 2021 as the Warriors beat Warrington Wolves, and went on to score a haul of excellent tries. The Warriors winger also went over for England in the Summer as they beat Wales.
