Jai Field spoke to wiganwarriors.com as he returned to Robin Park Arena to undertake some training to start his preparations for the 2022 season.

Field joined the Warriors for 2021, but sustained a hamstring tear in Round 1 of the Betfred Super League which required surgery. Following his return to action, the half back also suffered a groin injury ahead of Wigan’s Round 22 fixture against Castleford Tigers and didn’t feature for the rest of 2021.

Speaking on his first year at Wigan, he said: “I’m obviously quite disappointed in how the year was for me, getting that hamstring injury in Round 1, having 18 weeks on the sidelines and then struggling to get back.

Jai Field left the field early on his Wigan debut in Round 1 against Leigh Centurions after suffering a hamstring tear.

“All in all I’ve enjoyed my first year at Wigan and the Club has been great, they’ve aided my rehab well. It was disappointing the way we went out of the competition this year, I think everyone here didn’t expect it but overall my time here so far has been good but I’m looking forward to getting on the field again next year and hopefully staying on it.”

Field remains fit after overcoming his recent groin injury, and is training hard at Robin Park Arena: “I have had those injuries so I’m just trying to do some strengthening on my hamstring, keep things ticking over and not let my body go too much. I want to start the year strong and hit the ground running.”

Looking ahead to the new season, Field said: “There’s a lot of talk about the 150 years, it’s a great year to be at the Club and great timing for me to be able to be here as we celebrate it. I’m looking forward to that, it’s going to be a big year.
