In 2022 we celebrate a huge milestone in the Club’s history, but also hope to celebrate much more.

New Coaching Team

As recently announced, Matt Peet will lead the team forward as Head Coach in 2022. He is aided by Assistant Coaches Lee Briers and Sean O’Loughlin and has the help of new Head of Analysis Jack Phillips. Shaun Wane also returns to the Warriors as Leadership and Management Director.

Speaking ahead of 2022, Matt Peet said: “I want to drive that connection between the staff and players and most importantly between the players and the fans and the town. We need to engage with the town, engage with the fans, provide a team and a style of rugby that this town can get behind and that starts with our day-to-day interactions, our day-to-day work.” 

New players

Kaide Ellis, Patrick Mago and Abbas Miski join the Warriors for 2021.

Ellis, 25, joins Wigan from St George Illawarra Dragons and is set to stay at the DW Stadium until at least the end of 2023, with the option of a third year.

On signing for the Warriors, Ellis said: “I’m excited to be joining a successful club like Wigan with such proud history. I can’t wait to get over there put the work in, show what I can do and help deliver another trophy to the Club.”

Mago, a 26-year-old prop from South Sydney Rabbitohs has put pen to paper on a two-year contract and will remain with Wigan until at least the end of the 2023 season, with the option of a third year.

On joining Wigan in 2022, Mago commented: “I’m very much looking forward to this opportunity at the biggest and best club in Super League. I cannot wait for the first time I pull on the jersey and give my all for the fans and this great Club.”  

Miski, 26, has signed a two-year contract with the Warriors and has the option of a third year.

The Lebanese winger has previously played for Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles. He has signed from London Broncos after an impressive 2021 season in the Betfred Championship.

On signing for the Warriors, Miski told Wigan TV: “I know how great the Club is and everything about them speaks professionalism and I wanted to be here. I jumped on the opportunity. 

“I know it’s a proud Club. Everyone who I’ve spoken to from Wigan takes pride in this Club and I definitely want to be a part of that. Next year will be exciting with it being the 150th year for the Club and I’m glad to be a part of that. I can’t wait.” 

New era

2022 sees the dawn of a new era under newly named head coach Matt Peet, alongside the return of Wigan legend Shaun Wane.

They are joined by an exciting and experienced coaching team of assistants in Sean O’Loughlin and Lee Briers. In 2022 we need your support more than ever, we want to see our fans standing side-by-side each week as we strive to win the Betfred Super League and Betfred Challenge Cup.

Each season is a journey, and one that will play havoc with our emotions. We’ll feel pride, passion, anger and joy along the way. This is a rollercoaster like no other.

United by pride, driven by passion, bound by loyalty, watching the Warriors at the DW Stadium is an experience that will leave you exhilarated from start to finish.
