Women’s team to hold trial day
Wigan Warriors Women have revealed the date for their trial session ahead of the 2022 Betfred Women’s Super League.
Launching as a team in 2018, the Warriors Women won the Women’s Super League in their inaugural season.
The 2022 campaign promises to be an exciting year for Women’s Rugby League with the competition offering a great and final opportunity for players to impress ahead of the upcoming delayed Rugby League World Cup.
One trial session for the Warriors Women’s team is planned for Saturday 30th October 2021, taking place at Robin Park Arena from 1:30pm until 3:30pm. The trial is open to anyone over the age of 17 who is interested in playing Rugby League or already plays the game.
Wigan Warriors Women’s 2021 top try scorer and England International, Georgia Wilson, spoke about the trials: “After playing football and hockey throughout my childhood I was ready to try a new sport when I went to University in 2015 so I started Rugby Union. When the Wigan trials were published my friends and family were encouraging me to try something new so I decided to challenge myself and give the trials a go. I knew I had nothing to lose so I took myself to the trial.”
She added: “I gave it my best shot and I am so fortunate to have been selected back in 2017, attending the trials was the best decision I’ve made. 2017/2018 was a season of learning just like every other season I’ve played so far. The Women’s game has progressed so much since my first season of Rugby League which has created so many opportunities allowing me to learn and develop.
“These opportunities are memories that will last forever. I would urge anyone who has the passion and wants to be a part of this great Club to come down and show us what you’ve got at the trial.”
