O’Loughlin teams up for Row4Rob

  • Sean O’Loughlin, Brad Singleton, Tommy Leuluai and Willie Isa will all take part in the Row4Rob to help raise money for the MND Association.
  • O’Loughlin: “Hopefully we can raise some more awareness for what Mike Gregory went through and what Rob Burrow and many others are currently going through.”
  • Sean O’Loughlin will captain one team in the final leg of the journey.

The Row4Rob is a charity event to help raise money for the MND Association. The event will see numerous Rugby League legends and high profile supporters tackle a marathon canoeing challenge on the Leeds to Liverpool Canal from Monday 4th October and finishing in Wigan on Thursday 7th October.

Taking place across four days, our Warriors will take part in the final day of the event, with Sean O’Loughlin poised as team captain for one of the two teams.

Here is the event schedule:

  • Day 1 – Monday 4th October (Leeds Dock to Low Bradley, Keighley – Distance: 26.5 miles)
  • Day 2 – Tuesday 5th October (Low Bradley, Keighley to Reedley Marina, Burnley – Distance: 24.2 miles)
  • Day 3 – Wednesday 6th October (Reedley Marina Burnley to Riley Green, Hoghton – Distance: 23 miles)
  • Day 4 – Thursday 7th October (Riley Green Marina to DW Stadium, Wigan – Distance: 18 Miles)

Talking about the event, O’Loughlin said: “So the concept is that they’re carrying the Super League trophy to Old Trafford ready for the Grand Final but across four days a few teams will tackle a stretch of the canal.

“On day four we’re starting at Top Lock and working our way down to the DW Stadium. Myself, Tommy Leuluai and Willie Isa all make up one team, hopefully we can raise some more awareness for what Mike Gregory went through and what Rob Burrow and many others are currently going through.”

Expanding on the recognition of MND Association, O’Loughlin said: “Phil Clarke told me about the event and I jumped at the chance, anything that we can do to help is a privilege to be involved in.”

He added: “You know more about the disease when it is people that you know who suffer from it so anything at all that we can do to raise awareness, and hopefully raise some money for the cause towards research can only be a benefit.”

The team are hoping to raise £7,777 in a nod to Rob Burrow’s playing shirt number. You can donate to the Row4Rob fundraiser via Just Giving by clicking HERE.
