Wigan’s U19s end with win

Wigan Warriors’ Under-19s scored eight tries to beat Bradford Bulls and end the 2021 season with an impressive win.

The young Warriors scored four tries in the opening 20 minutes to race into a comfortable lead at Robin Park Arena. The first touchdown came from Zach Eckersley, before Jacob Douglas darted over for 8-0 after 12 minutes.

Two more tries came before the 20th minute as Matty Nicholson went over, before Eckersley grabbed his second. Alex Sutton converted one of the four kicks and Wigan went 18-0 ahead in at the break.

The Cherry and Whites extended their lead further in the second half as Douglas got his second and Alex Sutton went over for a try and converted a goal conversion to make it 28-0.

Two Bradford tries then came in quick succession to give the visitors some hope, but Junior Nsemba soon made sure of the win for Wigan as he crossed over after 71 minutes, Sutton converting to take the score to 34-12.

Another Bulls try followed but it was Harvie Hill who rounded off the afternoon as he touched down for Wigan’s eighth try and to seal a 40-18 win to end an impressive 2021 season for the Under-19s.
