Raising mental health awareness

At half time in tonight’s Betfred Super League Rivals Round fixture against St Helens, War Paint For Men will be attempting a goal kicking challenge to raise awareness for a new mental health support organisation.
Earlier this season, Wigan Warriors announced an innovative multi-year partnership with specialist male makeup brand War Paint For Men, with the partnership set to deliver a range of tailored campaigns and programmes to address mental health.
Founded by Danny Gray, a body dysmorphia sufferer and men’s wellness advocate, War Paint For Men seeks to break the stigma of makeup being exclusively for women by helping men feel comfortable and confident via any means necessary.

Danny has also founded JAAQ, a non-profit organisation that has been created to allow the public to access information and support for a range of mental health topics from leading professors, doctors and those with real-life experience.
With one in four people experiencing a mental health problem of some kind each year in England (Source: Mind Charity), JAAQ will be the focus of the half time goal kicking challenge to raise awareness for the important initiative.
Whilst Covid-19 guidelines have prevented Danny from taking to the pitch on game day, his goal kicking challenge has been pre-recorded to appear on the big screen at the DW Stadium at half time. A member of the Wigan Warriors first team squad will then take to the pitch to replicate the challenge, if successful a donation of £2,000 will be made to the new non-profit organisation.
War Paint For Men and JAAQ founder, Danny, said: “I am so proud to partner with Wigan Warriors on both War Paint and JAAQ to spread the message about mental health and the effect this has on people and those around them.
“I want to change the perception of mental health and with powerful partnerships like this one with Wigan I think we can do that.
“I’m looking forward to the activation at the big game and I’m sure Wigan fans will give us their full support, as they have done with the partnership so far.”
