Shorrocks: Building something
- Joe Shorrocks previews Wigan’s Betfred Super League clash with Salford.
- Shorrocks: “Hopefully we can get the job done more convincingly than last time.”
- Wigan Warriors v Salford Red Devils, Fri 6th August, DW Stadium, 7:45pm K.O.
Joe Shorrocks is hoping Wigan can showcase the progress they’ve made this season on Friday night when they take on Salford at the DW Stadium.
Adrian Lam’s side face the Red Devils for the second time this season, having narrowly won by a point thanks to a Jackson Hastings drop goal back in May.
Speaking to Wigan TV ahead of the Round 18 Betfred Super League clash, the forward began by discussing his role in the side this season.
“My goal was to play as many games as I could this season, and I’ve been involved in every one so far. I’m really happy with that. I’ve got to keep doing what I’m doing to keep my spot in the team.”
The 21-year-old has been deployed in a number of roles this season, from loose forward to hooker, half back to centre. On where he’s most comfortable, he said: “Loose forward is my preferred position. I like getting in the middle and getting my hands on the ball.
“Watching Lockers [Sean O’Loughlin] and learning from him this year is really helping my game I think. He’s given me tips on where to be, what to do and there’s no one better to learn from really than him.”
On facing Salford, he said: “We feel as a team we are progressing and building something towards the business end of the season. Hopefully we can get the job done more convincingly than last time.”
