Manfredi to walk out at DW

Following his immediate retirement from Rugby League this week, Dom Manfredi is set to walk out at the DW Stadium on Friday night and present the match ball ahead of Wigan’s game against Salford.

After being medicated advised because of injury, Manfredi took the decision to hang up his boots immediately.

Ahead of the game tomorrow, the 27-year-old will walk out of the tunnel with the match ball and receive a guard of honour by both sets of players.

Before Manfredi goes out onto the field, the Wigan players will walk out wearing red Warrior caps which will all be signed by Dom. Prior to kick-off, the players will throw their caps into the stands to give to fans.

Executive director, Kris Radlinski, said: “Dom has been with us since he was 14-years-old. He is such an unassuming, humble and honest man. He wanted no fuss this week and I had to explain to him just how much he means to Wigan fans and how much they will want to send him off well.

“On Friday for the game against Salford, Dom will receive a guard of honour when he walks out onto the pitch. He will be joined by his family and a montage of his greatest moments will be shown on the big screen pre-game.

“Please show Dom as much support as you can, he so deserves it.”
