Injury update

Get the latest on the Wigan Warriors squad ahead of Friday’s home clash against Wakefield Trinity at the DW Stadium – Brought to you by Assured Screening.

Adrian Lam’s men will take on the Yorkshire side in Round 15 of the Betfred Super League (7:45pm K.O.) with the Cherry and Whites hoping to make amends after Trinity came out o top in the reverse fixture in June.

Sam Powell is included in this week’s 21-man squad after missing last week’s win over Huddersfield with a failed H.I.A.

Powell is included in the 21-man squad to face Wakefield after missing last week’s game against Huddersfield.

Liam Byrne is unavailable as he recovers from a rib cartilage injury. The forward also missed out on last week’s win over Huddersfield.

Morgan Smithies again misses out as he recovers from an ankle injury.

Zak Hardaker is unavailable as he continues recovery from a neck injury.

John Bateman misses out with an ankle injury picked up while on England duty in June.

Jai Field remains side-lined with a torn hamstring injury sustained during Round 1 against Leigh Centurions.

Earlier this week, Lam gave an update on the Australian as he gets closer to full fitness.

“He’s training back with the main group now. There is still three or four weeks of ‘load’ he needs to get through, which is getting enough kilometres in his legs to reduce the risk of soft tissue damage when he returns. We are all excited for him to get back out there when the time comes.”

Bevan French too continues recovery from a hamstring injury, expected to keep the full back out for the remainder of the 2021 season.

Fans are urged to buy online to avoid potentially long queues at the DW Stadium ticket office in person and over the phone.
