Adrian Lam believes his side must not rest on their laurels if they are to overcome the challenge of Wakefield this Friday.

The two meet in Round 15 of the Betfred Super League with the DW Stadium playing host for the 7:45pm kick-off.

Speaking to the media in his weekly press conference ahead of Friday’s game, the Warriors head coach began by discussing the opposition.

“We know this side quite well having played them a lot in recent years. They do move the ball well and if we are not careful they can hurt us.

“They’ve got some of the best individuals in the comp when you break them down. We’ve got to make sure we are on our game.”

Wakefield came out on top when the two sides met back in June at the Mobile Rocket Stadium.

Wigan head into the fixture after back-to-back wins over Huddersfield. Lam explained how he hopes his side will build on those victories.

“We need to continue to bring that energy we’ve shown recently and keep working hard for each other and as a team.”

Lam also provided an update on players likely to return to the first team squad for Friday.

“Jackson Hastings (ban), Sam Powell (H.I.A) and Willie Isa (ban) are back into the squad. That experience is vital to our team.

“Joe Bullock (illness) and Liam Byrne (rib cartilage) we will give until the last chance to decide on whether to include them or not.”

There was also questions for the Warriors head coach on the recent announcement of three new signings for the 2022 season. On Monday evening the Club revealed that winger Abbas Miski and NRL forwards Kaide Ellis and Patrick Mago had put pen to paper on deals with the Cherry and Whites (learn more HERE).

“It’s that time of the season when it’s challenging recruiting and re-signing players. They are three exciting signings for us.”
