Wigan partner with MA Brickworks

Wigan Warriors Community Foundation are excited to announce a multi-year partnership with MA Brickworks.

Marking the local construction company’s first sports partnership, MA brickworks will support the Foundation’s school and player development pathway as well as becoming the main shirt sponsor of the newly formed Wheelchair team’s playing shirts.

Whilst the two parties will collaborate on a series of fan engagement and community initiatives to increase participation in Rugby League, it will also allow the Foundation to add a Wheelchair team to its disability offer -alongside the current physical and learning disability teams.

Preparations are in full swing for the launch of the Wigan Warriors Wheelchair team, with the Foundation securing funding from the Rugby League World Cup Legacy Fund to set up a third Warriors disability team.

Wigan Warriors head of community, Martin McLoughlin, said: “We are delighted to welcome Mark and MA Brickworks into our growing family of community partners.

“Creating new inclusive and diverse opportunities for people to participate in the sport is a significant part of the Club’s community strategy. We are excited by the opportunity to work with MA Brickworks to create a Wheelchair team to our disability offer.

“Equally important is supporting the development of young people to have access high quality coaching opportunities which we will seek to do through player education, performance and community development sessions.”

MA Brickworks managing director, Mark Alder, said: “It’s great to help the Foundation and hopefully we can build a relationship over the coming years.”

Mark, who is also the chairman of Ince Rose Bridge ARLFC, added: “I’m a huge fan of the Club and we sponsor a couple of players too. I’ve done quite a lot for Wigan, but this is different – it’s a charity and I’m really looking forward to helping it grow.”
