Adrian Lam highlighted the need for his side to make the most of their chances after their defeat to Warrington Wolves on Wednesday evening.

The Warriors fell to their fourth defeat in a row in the Betfred Super League Round 12 fixture, with just four days until their next game away to St Helens.

Speaking to the media shortly after the final whistle, the Warriors head coach gave his thoughts on the result.

“I know the score was flattering, but I think there was effort there and that it was closer to where we want to be.

“We Improved in the effort areas that we have been lacking.”

Oliver Gildart scoring his third try in two games.

“There was three moments against the run of play, the two interceptions and the short drop kick.

“We’ve got to be better in those moments, but they do drain the confidence from you. There was a period in the second half when we began to play the rugby we are used to, so we have to try and stay on those positives.”

Warrington have now won six games in a row, and understandably headed into the night’s fixture with plenty of confidence, something which Lam highlighted as an extra threat.

“When you’re playing sides with that much confidence, you’ve got to be clinical with everything you do.

“Today was always going to be difficult if we weren’t clinical.“

Lam also provided an update on players with injuries.

“Morgan has been playing through his injury [ankle] for the last few weeks. He’s done that again so it’s a shame but he will be a couple of weeks.”

On John Bateman’s ankle injury picked up last week on England duty: “It’s a high ankle sprain, so it could be up to four weeks.”
