Tommy Leuluai is ‘excited’ at the prospect of playing alongside a number of youngsters on Thursday night when the Warriors take on Wakefield.

All Betfred Super League clubs will be missing a couple first team players this week with the England v All Stars international fixture taking place on Friday evening.

Speaking to Wigan TV ahead of the game the Club captain discussed the challenges of facing Wakefield with experienced players unavailable.

“We’ve been here before. Every club is in this position. It’s an important game for us, and it will be harder without the international lads but we have full confidence with the lads coming in.

“We are very lucky – we have a great academy, the players coming through know the system and I’m excited for them guys to have a crack and get some game time.”

Wigan’s visit to the Mobile Rocket Stadium will be the first of 2021. From experience, Leuluai explained it’s not usually an easy place to secure a win.

“It’s an intimidating ground. It’s old school. Sometimes those are quite cool to go to. Having that atmosphere will help. They always play well when we play there so we have to be focused for the best Wakefield team.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge for us, it’s a big game for the Club and for our season. We have to focus on trying to nail a performance.”
