Wigan Warriors are delighted to announce our summer programme of England Talent Pathway development sessions.

As a Club we are passionate and have a long history of developing Rugby League players through our Youth Academy system and this is the first step on our Academy pathway.

Junior players who sign-up to the programme will have the opportunity to work with Wigan Warriors performance staff to help enhance their physical, technical, tactical and psychological skills, with the chance to be recognised for the Club’s Scholarship system.

All the sessions are open access and available for Under-13-Under-16 junior players. Booking is required – click here to book today. See the full programme below.

Earlier in the year, Wigan’s Academy performance team delivered virtual development sessions to young players across the country. As Covid-19 restrictions eased, the virtual sessions progressed into Development Days, as the Warriors hosted training sessions at Robin Park Arena during the Easter holidays.

We are now in a position to offer a full summer programme at various age groups, providing players with a longer opportunity to spend more time utilising the outstanding facilities at Robin Park Arena and top class coaching available.

Academy head coach and scholarship manager, Shane Eccles, said: “It is fantastic to be able to run a full programme through the summer where players will have the opportunity to work with our performance staff on a regular basis.

“We are able to plan a full training programme similar to what happens with the Scholarship to give the players an insight into what to expect as they progress through the system, and this also creates an opportunity to see how players adapt to the sessions and show their potential to progress in our system. The big positive is that slowly we are starting to build things back up and provide opportunities for aspiring Rugby League players to develop their skills.”
