Huddersfield game postponed

The Betfred Super League fixture between Wigan Warriors and Huddersfield Giants which was scheduled for Friday night (11th June) has been postponed.

Seven Huddersfield players have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last two days, meaning they are required to self-isolate for ten days.

Consequently, and in accordance with the RFL’s Multiple Case Framework, the RFL’s Multiple Cases Group have determined that although Huddersfield’s last training session was last Wednesday (2nd June), the team should not return to training until a further round of PCR testing on Friday (11th June).

The decision was reached on the basis of the number of positive cases and given the incubation period for Covid-19 of up to 14 days.

The RFL will work with the clubs and Super League Europe on possible dates for the match to be rearranged later in the season.

Wigan supporters who have purchased tickets for this fixture are politely requested to await further updates regarding the details of the re-arranged game and refrain from contacting the Club or the DW Stadium Ticket Office with regards to exchanges or refunds during the current week, as we are just about to embark on the significant task of allocating all of the season ticket holder seats for next week’s home fixture against Hull KR.

Wigan Warriors and Huddersfield Giants will liaise in the coming days to confirm any revisions to ticketing protocol for the fixture as and when it is re-arranged.

All tickets will remain valid for whichever date during 2021 this fixture can be played, subject to any changes to government policy between now and the date of the game, so we advise that fans hold on to their tickets until the new information is confirmed.

Due to the game being postponed, Wigan Warriors have cancelled this week’s pre-match press conference.

Wigan Warriors Lotto 50/50 draw tickets bought by fans for the Huddersfield game will be carried over to next Friday’s fixture against Hull KR.
