Brad Singleton described the Wigan Warriors fans in attendance at the AJ Bell Stadium as “awesome” following the late victory against Salford Red Devils on Saturday.

After more than 14 months since the last time Warriors played with a crowd, 400 away fans packed out the North Stand terrace to watch their side make it seven wins from seven in the Betfred Super League.

Singleton, who experienced his first time playing in front of the Wigan faithful and scored two tries, was full of praise for the impact they had on him and his teammates.

“They were awesome,” Singleton said. “Honestly, you don’t realise it – you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone sort of thing.

“To get used to playing for Wigan without a crowd, you get acclimatised to that, and then to play in front of a crowd, it just shocked me how loud they were and how great they were and how much behind us they were.

“I think there was loads of positive energy there and I feel like the boys reacted to that. Credit to the fans, I loved them.”

Reflecting on the action of the 80 minutes, the 28-year-old highlighted the resilience of the Warriors’ performance.

“I think Salford on Saturday at one o’clock with crowds in is screaming for a slip-up, but I think this can define the group.

“I think it got tough and we managed to hang in there and nail the one pointer, so you can see the negatives, but you can also see the positives. Where we want to go it’s all about taking the positive and growing.

“Salford are no pushover. They’ve got a new coach and a new group and they’ve going to click against someone, and I thought they gave it a good go out there so credit to them, but credit to our boys for digging deep.”
