Adrian Lam has stressed his team must learn from the mistakes made in their Betfred Challenge Cup Quarter Final defeat to Hull FC on Saturday.

Speaking to the media shortly after the final whistle, the Warriors head coach gave his thoughts on the disappointing result.

“We played uncharacteristically. With all of the mistakes, it’s not what we are about.

“The game was very stop start because of all of the errors, meaning we couldn’t build any momentum or pressure – a really frustrating game to watch.”

The game was played in challenging conditions as wind and rain battered Emerald Headingley on Saturday afternoon.

He continued: “We were our own worst enemy. It’s just frustrating it was on a day like today. We’ve been really good of late.”

Lam also pointed out the ruthlessness of the opposition.

“As soon as a team like Hull get in front, with a kicker like they’ve got, they will strangle you. That was the difficult part.

He added: “Obviously, we will go away from this and be a better team for it, we will be steeled better. We will get to the bottom of it and move forward.”

The head coach did highlight the return of Dom Manfredi as a positive, with the winger grabbing a try in his first outing of 2021.

“I’m really pleased for him. He’s back now and puts us in a better position with the squad and in the long-run. We can start to shift players around back to their preferred roles.”
