Adrian Lam was impressed by Wigan’s spirit in overcoming Hull FC at the DW Stadium on Thursday night.

The Cherry and Whites beat Brett Hodgson’s men 16-14 in a physical battle that kept the Warriors’ unbeaten run in tact in 2021.

Speaking to the media via Zoom link shortly after the final whistle, the Papua New Guinean highlighted the physical nature of the game.

Lam speaking to the media via Zoom.

“It was an ugly win, but I love ugly wins.

“I’m really proud of the boys for fronting up in a game of twists and turns with errors at both ends.”

And while the head coach admitted it wasn’t the best performance from his side, he was happy with their dogged approach to finding a result.

“We coughed up a lot of errors, but I’m proud of the boys for sticking in there.”

The Warriors will face FC again next weekend, this time in the Betfed Challenge Cup Quarter Finals at the neutral venue of Emerald Headingley Stadium.

Highlighting this, Lam explained why the nine-day turnaround would be welcomed.

“I’m sure the nine day break between games will suit both teams, it was a really physical battle out there tonight.”
