Roden joins Whitehaven on loan

Wigan Warriors can confirm that youngster Aiden Roden has joined Betfred Championship side Whitehaven RLFC on an initial month loan deal.

In recent years, the hooker has progressed through the Wigan Academy system, having won back-to-back Under-19s Grand Finals in 2018 and 2019. He has represented Lancashire in the 2018 origin series against Yorkshire, as well as England against the Australian Schoolboys.

Roden also has first team experience having featured in the Warriors’ pre-season friendly against Salford Red Devils in March.

Wigan Warriors head of youth, Darrell Goulding, said: “This is a great opportunity for Aiden to test himself at a high level and get regular game time. He has played a big part in the successful Academy and Reserve teams over the past few years with his solid defence and distribution skills. I know everyone at Whitehaven will make him feel really welcome.”
