Kit donation spreads the sport

  • Community Foundation makes kit donation to East Lancashire high school
  • Our Lady and St John Catholic College in Shadsworth part of our regular delivery in the area
  • Wigan Warriors and Blackburn Rovers Community Trust continue to deliver successful RL partnership

Wigan Warriors Community Foundation have once again helped to extend the reach of Rugby League to the game’s ‘heartland expansion’ areas with the donation of a full kit to an East Lancashire high school.

Our Lady and St John Catholic College in Shadsworth has taken receipt of 27 full Warriors strips to allow their pupils to play a more active part in the sport after being part of the joint Premier League Primary Stars delivery that we help to facilitate in schools to the north east of Wigan, in conjunction with Blackburn Rovers Community Trust.

The two club charities are approaching two years into a very successful arrangement that has seen our Community Foundation’s Lancashire rugby league development officer, Bradley Kelk, embedded within the EFL Championship side’s community organisation.

His role has helped to simultaneously increase their sporting range whilst allowing us to spread the Rugby League and Wigan Warriors word in both primary and secondary schools across key parts of our extended catchment area, such as Blackburn with Darwen, Chorley and Hyndburn.

Schools in Blackburn with Darwen or directly adjacent boroughs who are keen to know more about the package offered by the two organisations are advised to email b.kelk@wiganwarriors.com for further details.
