Salford week

To build up the excitement of Wigan’s return to action, we’re offering up 10 exciting previous clashes between Wigan and Salford for you to enjoy.

From last season’s 58-12 victory behind closed doors at the Totally Wicked Stadium, to a number of classic thrashings from the late 80s and early 90s, there’s a treasure trove of great rugby waiting to be rewatched or enjoyed for the first time.

To get a taste of what’s on offer here’s a couple of great clips from games that are now available on Wigan TV.

Looking back to 1989 with this one, where a team including Ellery Hanley, Shaun Edwards and Joe Lydon battled to a 28-18 win over Salford to keep in a close title race with Widnes.

Another offering comes five years later. At Central Park once more, Wigan overcame Salford, this time in much more handsome circumstances winning 52-22. The side that day including the likes of Dennis Betts, Jason Robinson and Martin Offiah.
