On this day – 24th February

Look back at a big Wigan Warriors victory over London Broncos from 24th February 2013.

The Warriors had begun the season with a collection of mixed results. After a resounding 0-42 win away to Salford in round one, Shaun Wane’s men then drew with Warrington 17-17 and lost in round three to Huddersfield away.

Back at the DW Stadium, the Cherry and Whites looked to get back to winning ways against London Broncos, and did so in style.

A frantic first half brought four tries for the Warriors through Iain Thornley, Josh Charnley, Micky McIlorum and Sean O’Loughlin, as well as a sin bin for Sam Tomkins. However, the visitors added three of their own before the break, leaving the scores at a close 22-18 at the break.

Wigan stepped it up a gear in the second half, scoring a further five tries and restricting London any further points.

Thornley and Charnley grabbed their second scores of the game, while the returning Tomkins, Blake Green and Pat Richards also touched down. Richards also added six goals to the total, bringing the final score to 48-12.
