RL Cares statement

Rugby League Cares have released a statement on the third national lockdown:

The announcement of a third national coronavirus lockdown from Wednesday 6th January will have implications for every member of the Rugby League family.

The resilience of the sport and its communities has been severely tested over the last ten months and the latest restrictions will undoubtedly add to the disruption many people have already faced.

But we will get through this together.

Rugby League Cares would like to reaffirm its commitment to supporting people involved at every level of the game, in whatever capacity we are able.

The charity has been here for the most vulnerable in our communities throughout the pandemic and that situation will continue.

From providing a full suite of support measures to the game’s most important stakeholders, the players, through to delivering mental wellbeing programmes such as Offload and championing the great heritage of Rugby League by opening up our extensive archives, RL Cares will always be here for the Rugby League family.

Offload fixtures will continue to be delivered, in person or online depending on any restrictions in place; our health ambassadors will create and share informative and helpful content in the weeks to come; and we will again be sharing old games on our social media channels on a daily basis to keep everyone entertained and engaged.

We know that lockdown will be the cause of stress and anxiety levels that some of us will find particularly challenging: remember you do not have to tackle these challenges alone.

There are many organisations in the UK ready, able and willing to provide practical and emotional support: details of helpful organisations can be found by visiting www.rugbyleaguecares.org/need-help-now/

If you, or someone you know, needs more help or guidance during lockdown, please get in touch and we’ll do our best to help. You can reach us at info@rlcares.org.uk

Stay safe everyone: we will get through this together.
