Foundation partner with Beech Hill Primary

Since the start of September, as part of the PEPASS+ service, Wigan Warriors Community Foundation have been providing PE and School Sports to the children of Beech Hill Primary School.

As part of the PEPASS+, the Community Foundation deliver the PE National Curriculum, whilst up-skilling the teachers on planning, assessments and differentiating lessons to meet the needs of all pupils.

The relationship between both Community Foundation and Beech Hill Primary School has blossomed over a short period of time and the relationship has gone from strength to strength, with provision going from one day a week to three days a week starting in the Summer Term.

Schools Partnership Manager, Guy Wood, said: “It’s wonderful to see Beech Hill Primary School enhancing their current PE delivery with Wigan Warriors Community Foundation.

“It goes to show when you deliver the highest quality of PE and School Sports within a fun and engaging environment, both the children and teachers reap the rewards.

“The feedback from teachers and children has been nothing short of amazing since the first day in school. We aim to inspire the next generation of children through competitive sports that will improve mental and physical fitness.”

Megan Whittaker, PE Co-ordinator Beech Hill Primary School, said: “Seeing the Wigan Warriors badge encourages the children to participate in PE a lot more.

“Sessions have been used for teacher CPD and staff have said how impressed they are of the coaches. Children are actually using skills that they have learned in game situations. The leadership skills of the children have improved greatly.”

The PE and School Sport+ offer includes primary Rugby League, creative arts, health and wellbeing, teacher CPD and extra-curricular services.
