  • Partington: “It’s going to be one of the biggest games I’ve ever played in, so I feel it’s a big achievement.”

Ollie Partington says playing in Betfred Super League Grand Final is something he has been ‘dreaming’ of since he was young.

Wigan Warriors take on St Helens at the KCOM Stadium on Friday night (K.O. 8pm) for Super League glory.

And Partington says it is something he has been aiming for all his life, and the entire team are excited to take to the field.

“It is a childhood dream come true, I’ve wanted it since I was a kid, which is the same for a few of us. It’s going to be one of the biggest games I’ve ever played in, so I feel it’s a big achievement. Even the older lads, who have been there before, are buzzing just as much.”

After beating Saints for the first time under Adrian Lam last month, the prop admits they will head into the game with an extra boost.

“It definitely gives us the confidence to beat them again now we know how to do it. It will be a tight and tough game but a really good one for spectators like the last one, where the ball will be in play for a while.”

The 22-year-old says lifting the trophy for retiring club captain, Sean O’Loughlin, is one of the main driving forces amongst the squad.

“There will be no better way for Lockers (O’Loughlin) to bow out. The main focus is to get the win for him, even though he doesn’t want it to be like that.”

Partington says winning for Sean O’Loughlin will be a key motivation for the Warriors.

Partington says he will be thinking of the fans when the Warriors take to the field on Friday night.

“It will put a smile on the faces of a few of the fans who have had a tough time.

“We drew a line in the sand after Leeds beat us and have spoken about not letting it happen again. We just want to focus on winning this Grand Final like we know we can.”
