Lam named Coach of the Year

Adrian Lam has been named the 2020 Betfred Super League Coach of the Year.

Lam, who led the Club to its first League Leaders’ Shield since 2012 this year, becomes the third Wigan boss to win the award after Michael Maguire (2010) and Shaun Wane (2018).

After 15 wins from 20 games this season, the Papua New Guinan has guided the Warriors to the 2020 Super League Grand Final where they will play St Helens at the KCOM Stadium, Hull on Friday night.

On receiving the award, Lam said: “I’m over the moon and really proud to win this award. I’m very pleased and honoured to have received this.

“I want to give a massive thank you to all my staff. I’m really proud of their work ethic and what they have contributed to the group has certainly helped towards that success.

“This award is a shared one with all the coaching staff. I can’t thank them enough. I want to thank in particular my rugby staff that work hard with me – John Winder, Matt Peet, Darrell Goulding and Dan Blundell. Those guys work tirelessly every day to make sure that we deliver the information and detail to the players.

“It’s a group of lads and squad of players that I not only coach, but that I love as people. They’re great listeners and learn new and different things every week and adapt to that.

“I want to thank our chairman Ian Lenagan and executive director Kris Radlinski. At the start of my first year, we went through a difficult time, but I felt they both had my back. I want to thank them for that.”

“The squad is as strong as it has been in the last two years, and I think we’re in a good position to have a great performance on Friday.”
