Lam previews Huddersfield

Head Coach Adrian Lam believes winning the League Leaders’ Shield on Friday would be ‘something special’ when considering the unprecedented season of the 2020.
The Cherry and Whites head to Leeds’ Emerald Headingley Stadium to take on seventh placed Huddersfield, in their second meeting of the 2020 season.
Following the Betfred Super League restructure announced on Tuesday (learn more here), Lam’s side know that a win over the Giants will secure the first League Leaders’ Shield since 2012. A loss would gift the shield to St Helens.
Speaking to the media during his weekly press conference, Lam provided his thoughts on the fixture restructure.
“I think overall we are very happy with the decision, we have to support what benefits the game.
“As a Club we haven’t achieved that since 2012 so it would be a massive achievement for us a Club, myself personally and the players too, many young enough not to have had it previously.
“It’s been a really difficult season and to be in a position where we can win that trophy, it would be something special.”

While there were no updates on new injury issues within the squad, the Papua New Guinean did highlight the unavailability of second-row Joe Greenwood as a selection headache ahead of Friday’s game.
“Greenwood is suspended, so we have to find a replacement for him in the side this week.”
Lam was also questioned on the Club’s new badge. Discussing the update, he said: “It’s a direction the Club felt it needed to go in, with the times as they are, in today’s modern society. It’s a very positive outlook for us. The players and coaching staff have been very supportive and are in favour of the change.
