Warriors welcome pilot events

Wigan Warriors are delighted of the news that rugby league fans will return to the Betfred Super League on Wednesday September 30 for the Round 14 traditional derby fixture with St Helens at the DW Stadium.

After the Government granted permission for four fixtures to be staged at pilot events, it was confirmed on Thursday that attendances of 1,000 will be permitted at games.

One of the four is the first meeting of the 2020 season between Wigan and St Helens, which will also be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Wigan Warriors executive director, Kris Radlinski, said: “This is very exciting news for all rugby league and Super League fans.

“We can’t wait to see Cherry and White fans back at the DW Stadium and what better way for them to return – albeit in short attendance – than to watch the traditional Wigan-Saints derby.”

Further details of the arrangements for the fixture on Wednesday September 30 will be announced in due course.

Due to the expected huge interest in this fixture, please be aware that unfortunately we cannot guarantee to answer individual queries about the ticketing arrangements until they are confirmed. Thank you for your patience and understanding with this matter.

The other three fixtures granted pilot event status are: Castleford Tigers versus Hull FC; Huddersfield Giants versus Hull KR; and Leeds Rhinos versus Catalans Dragons.
