Tommy Leuluai says the disruption caused by Covid-19 is something that rugby league players will have to get used to as Wigan Warriors prepare to take on Catalans Dragons this Saturday (5pm UK time).

The 35-year-old looks set to return to action this week as Adrian Lam’s side head to Perpignan, after being cleared to travel following a positive test in the Warriors camp at the beginning of the week.

Leuluai looks set to return to action this weekend after missing last week’s game vs Hull KR.

Talking to Wigan TV this week, the half-back discussed how players need to respond to the problems that Covid-19 still poses and how it has affected Wigan’s preparations this week.

He said: “It was a bit disruptive at the start of the week, which wasn’t ideal, but it is nice to get some training in. We’ve only got one guy who is isolated so it’s not too bad and is probably the bast-case scenario from what we first thought.

The 35-year-old says lessons are being learnt in rugby league.

“We are learning the lessons of how we can protect the group and our sport. It’s very hard sometimes, as it’s a tough time in the world, so we all have to deal with it and crack on.

“There are changes all the time, and as players we have to deal with what is thrown at us and prepare the best that we can, so we are ready to play.”

You can watch the full interview with Tommy as he discusses how the team can bounce back from the Hull KR defeat, how travelling to Perpignan will have an effect and what he expects from Catalans Dragons on Saturday.
