The 21-man squad announcement on Tuesday confirmed Oliver Gildart’s first inclusion of the season. The 24-year-old centre has been unavailable due to a shoulder injury sustained during the Great Britain Tour of New Zealand in 2019.

Head Coach Adrian Lam provided updates on the injured players in his squad earlier this week.

Two new causes of concern were the injuries to Liam Marshall and George Burgess, who left the field with knee and hip issues respectively against Castleford last weekend.

On Marshall, Lam said: “Liam will go and get a scan tomorrow (Tuesday) so we are praying he’s ok. It doesn’t look great at the moment, but fingers crossed.”

With regards to George Burgess, the Warriors boss said: “Around half time he got his leg pulled which impinged his hip, which has been an ongoing issue. He’s being looked at and and we will manage that over the next couple of weeks.”

Lam confirmed that Club Captain Sean O’Loughlin would not be available this week to face Hull KR, but will likely return from his hamstring injury to face Catalans Dragons next week.

There was similar news for Jake Shorrocks, who has also been struggling with a hamstring injury. The Head Coach said: “He’s been in contention for a few weeks but towards the back end of weeks he’s twinged his hamstring. It’s been frustrating for Jake because he probably would have played a few games by now.

“He’s working hard with the medical team and in the gym and hopefully he’ll be back in the next couple of weeks.”

There was less positive news for Tony Clubb, who is expected to be sidelined for up to three months as he recovers from a neck injury.
