Wigan Warriors will face either Castleford Tigers or Hull FC in the Quarter Finals of the 2020 Coral Challenge Cup after receiving a bye past the Sixth Round.
The Warriors were due to play Warrington Wolves in the Sixth Round, but due to the unique set of circumstances caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Challenge Cup was reshaped – with the 10 Super League clubs remaining in the competition all included in a redraw for the Sixth Round and the Quarter Finals – which took place on Wednesday night.
The road to Challenge Cup Final, which has been rescheduled for Saturday October 17, will begin with two Sixth Round ties to be played at the John Smith’s Stadium in Huddersfield on Saturday August 22 – featuring Castleford vs Hull FC and Catalans Dragons vs Wakefield Trinity.
The remaining six Super League clubs, which includes Wigan, have received a bye to the Quarter Finals on the weekend of September 18-20, to be televised by the BBC and Sky Sports.
The Semi Finals will be held on Saturday October 3, with both matches shown live on the BBC. The Final will follow two weeks later, with the venues for those matches to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Hosted by the BBC’s Dave Woods – live on the RFL’s Our League app – the Sixth Round and Quarter Final draws were made by Great Britain legend Paul Sculthorpe MBE.
