On this day (8th July) in 2012, the Warriors thumped Wakefield 10-52 at the Mobile Rocket Stadium.

Hat-tricks from Sam Tomkins and George Carmont helped Wigan on their way to a huge victory.

It was Wakefield who took an early lead, as Peter Fox opened the scoring after just three minutes. 

The Warriors bounced back through Tomkins, who got his first try of the game in the 16th-minute to put his side ahead 4-6.

Gareth Hock extended Wigan’s lead just before the half hour mark, before full-back Tomkins claimed his second. 

Carmont got his first just before half time to make it 4-22.

The Warriors continued where they left off at the break, as Harrison Hansen went over in the 46th-minute.

Iain Thornley also added his name to the scoresheet, as he crossed the line twice in six minutes. 

Centre Carmont claimed his second on the hour mark, while Tomkins completed his hat-trick nine minutes later. 

Carmont would not have to wait long to get his third, as he went over with five minutes remaining. Wakefield’s Ben Cockayne pulled back a consolation try late on.
