For the past five weeks Wigan Warriors have welcomed a local act to perform on the Club’s social media as part of Music Monday and local singer-songwriter Joe Astley is the final act of this current series of performances.

Throughout lockdown, isolation shows have become a staple feature for artists to continue to perform and interact with people across the world.

The singer’s set will be available from 7pm on Monday 30th June on the Club’s Instagram, Twitter and Facebook channels.

We take a closer look at the local singer-songwriter and preview exactly what to expect.

Joe Astley.

Astley had a good six months, having released his first single, ‘Revolution Postponed,’ towards the end of 2019.

Back in March, his track ‘Anthem for the North’ accompanied Wigan Warriors and Wigan Athletic’s joint ‘We are Wigan’ statement.

Since then he has released two more singles, ‘Back to Rags’ and ‘Planet Ninety-Nine,’ and is backed by ten-piece outfit, The Wallgate Band.

The singer has had his song played on radio stations such as Radio X, BBC Radio Manchester and BBC Radio Merseyside.

On Monday evening, Astley will be performing a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s, ‘My Hometown’ and his original track, ‘Anthem for the North’.
