Each week Wigan Warriors will welcome a local act to perform on the Club’s social media, as part of our new initiative, Music Monday.

Throughout lockdown, isolation music shows have become a staple feature for artists to continue to perform and interact with people across the world.

Marcus Grimshaw is our first chosen artist, with his set available to watch from 7pm on Monday 8th June on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

We take a closer look at the local singer-songwriter and preview exactly what to expect from him

Marcus Grimshaw in action at the pre-match Fan Zone at Robin Park Arena earlier this year.

His musical journey began when he was 19, as he taught himself how to play guitar and began to write his own songs.

Towards the end of last year, he played his first pub gig which has led to some bigger slots, including an appearance at Croston Fest.

Grimshaw might also be a familiar face to some Warriors fans, having performed at the pre-match Fan Zone ahead of the opening game of the 2020 Betfred Super League season against Warrington Wolves.

Throughout lockdown, the singer-songwriter began to do shows through his Instagram story.

He said: “I did it to make up for lost time and to try to improve people’s lockdown. It then turned into a regular thing after people seemed to enjoy them.

“It went much better than I thought it would and showed the power of music. I just want to keep writing songs that have a positive message to bring people together.”

On Monday, Warriors fans can enjoy one of Grimshaw’s original tracks, Find a Sunny Day, and a cover of Paolo Nutini’s Last Request.
