On this day (8th May 2016) the Warriors beat Dewsbury Rams 4-54 in the Challenge Cup.

Josh Charnley, Oliver Gildart and John Bateman were amongst the scorers, as they went over for two each.

Wigan got off to a flying start with Charnley’s double and one from George Williams giving them a 0-12 lead after 12 minutes. 

The lead was extended even further before the 20-minute mark with Gildart getting his first, before Dan Sarginson added his name to the scoresheet.

Oliver Gildart scored twice on this day in 2016.

The home side were able to pull one back as Paul Sykes went over in what proved to be their only consolation of the afternoon. 

Before the break, Bateman went over twice in the space of five minutes to give the Warriors a strong advantage.

That continued into the second half with Ryan Sutton scoring two minutes after the restart, before Gildart added his second. 

The final try of the game came just before the hour mark with Lewis Tierney going over for Wigan’s tenth try.
