In Memoriam: Jack Robinson

Wigan Warriors are saddened to announce the passing of former Chairman, Jack Robinson, aged 77.

Robinson served Wigan Rugby League Club over a 18-year period from 1979 as director and later as Chairman. He succeeded Maurice Lindsay to become Chairman at the Club in 1992 and held that role for five years until August 1997. Alongside Maurice Lindsay, Jack Hilton and Tom Rathbone, Jack was one of the fabled “Gang of Four” who revitalised the Club in the early-1980s, setting Wigan on to a period of unrivalled success.

In Memoriam: Jack Robinson

In his professional career, Jack was a well-respected antiques dealer and speaking about Jack’s death, Club Chairman Ian Lenagan said:

“Whilst I didn’t know Jack personally, it’s clear to me from speaking to Maurice Lindsay and other staff over the past 24-hours that Jack Robinson was a Wigan Rugby League man through-and-through and our thoughts go out to his family and friends at this sad time. We thank him for his significant contributions to our great Club and we hope his loved ones can find some solace in his evident achievements here at Wigan Rugby League Club.”
