After concluding our look at The Lammy Years – the four seasons between 2001 and 2004 when current Head Coach Adrian Lam played for Wigan – Club Historian Keith Sutch provides all the key stats and facts from his time with the Warriors.

General facts

  • Made his debut vs St Helens at Knowsley Road on 10thApril February 2001 – in a Challenge Cup match – Wigan lost 22-8
  • Wore the No.7 shirt during his time at Wigan as he played in the halves – usually at scrum half 
  • David Furner, Matthew Johns and Harvey Howard all made their debuts for the Club in the same game Lam did

  • Played in all but one game in the 2002 season 
  • Played, scored a try and kicked a drop-goal in the winning 2002 Challenge Cup Final team at Murrayfield, Edinburgh as Wigan beat St Helens 21-12
  • Scored two tries in the 2003 Play-Off Elimination Semi-Final against St Helens at the JJB Stadium – Wigan won 40-24
  • Named the 2003 Super League Players’ Player of the Year and awarded Wigan’s Best and Fairest Player at the end of season dinner
  • Played in the 2004 Challenge Cup defeat to St Helens at the Millennium Stadium
  • Named in the Super League Dream Team at No.7 in three of the four seasons he played (2001, 2002 and 2003)
  • During his time at the Club, he played with current Wigan Executive Director Kris Radlinski, current Club Captain Sean O’Loughlin, current Head of Youth Mick Cassidy and current Head of Strength and Conditioning Paul Johnson 
  • Last game came against Leeds Rhinos in a Play-Off game at Headingley in 2004 – Wigan lost 40-12
