On this day (27th April 2002) Wigan won their 17th Challenge Cup as they beat St Helens 21-12 in the Final at Murrayfield, Edinburgh.

The Warriors were ahead after ten minutes as space opened up for Brett Dallas to go over, with Andy Farrell adding the extras.

The Warriors beat St Helens 21-12 in the 2002 Challenge Cup Final under coach Stuart Raper.

Shortly after, the score was doubled as current Head Coach, Adrian Lam, was the next man on the scoresheet.

The lead was narrowed to 12-8 before the break as Saints went over twice through Darren Albert and Martin Gleeson.

Paul Sculthorpe responded with another try for Saints, but a Lam drop-goal and Farrell penalty put the Final beyond doubt.

Kris Radlinski was awarded the Lance Todd Trophy for his Man of the Match performance as the Warriors lifted the Challenge Cup once again.
