St George's Blog - Part 2

Hey guys,

Hope you’re doing well?

It’s been another surreal week for myself. I had a dream ever since I was a youngster to play for this Club, I accomplished that but then wanted to push myself to go one step further and represent my country. I’ve always wondered if I would play for my country at senior level but to make my international debut at the age of 20 is something I genuinely didn’t expect. I know it’s a bit of a cliché but it really is a dream come true and I am absolutely buzzing that I got my international career off to a good start by getting on the score-sheet in the win over France.

I got the news that I would be in Steve’s (Steve McNamara) side to face France last Wednesday and I could hardly keep the news to myself so I text my mum and dad know as well as my girlfriend whom were all made up for me. I was so excited I struggled to sleep for the rest of the week! I was quite calm once the game kicked off though - I think playing alongside an NRL star like Gaz (Gareth Widdop) helped me a lot. It’s a huge privilege to represent my country, from Schoolboy to Senior level.

My next aim in my England career is to earn myself a second cap in these next three tests against New Zealand. It is always tough against the Kiwis but I think our squad this year is strong so it looks to be an intense few weeks.

With this being my first regular season so to speak with the Warriors, it has had its ups and downs but I am enjoying every minute of it. I started pre-season training on November 14 last year and will only return home from life in the England camp on the November 14 this year but in no way am I complaining… It’s a massive buzz for me and I can’t get enough of it at the moment.

As I mentioned last week, I’m going to Dubai for two weeks with my girlfriend once my time with the national team comes to a close but now I am also thinking of going away with Budgie (Joe Burgess) for a week or so.

Before that we’ve got some important business to attend to. Thanks for your support in this series, I’ve had loads of messages and hope to do you guys proud. We’re really excited to get out there now and hopefully you guys can help pack out the DW when we arrive in Wigan for game three.

Anyway, I think I’m going to catch up with the rest of the lads later to watch the new James Bond film at the Cinema now so I’ve got to go.

Catch ya later,

George
