- Warriors move up to third in the table after win
Amanda Sibbald said communication was key as Wigan beat York Ladies 50-0 at Robin Park Arena on Sunday.
The Warriors ran in nine tries to move up to third in the table, just one point off top spot.
On the game she said: “The heat was a bit of a challenge today, and we made a few mistakes in the first half playing daft. We weren’t talking much in the first half and I think that’s why everyone was a bit all over the place and making errors but in the second half we started talking a lot more and we came out better.”
Wigan went in at the half time break 20-0 to the good, before coming out and registering 30 unanswered points in the second half.
On the second half, Sibbald said: “They were getting tired in the second half, but we were definitely more vocal too, our communication was far better than in the first period. That was key, we took charge of that second half and it got us home.”
The number 25 crossed for a try either side of half time to help her team to the win, managing to keep York to nil in the process: “It’s good to get out there scoring tries, Gemma (Walsh) has been putting balls on a plate for me, especially today, so all I have to do is run a good line and I’ve got myself over to score.
“We got the nil, but it definitely wasn’t an easy contest, we made life hard for ourselves in the opening forty minutes, but York made us work for it too. I’m just glad to get the nil and the win.”
Wigan now face an trip away to face last year’s Champions, Bradford Bulls. On the next game she said: “It’s going to be a tough game at Bradford, but if we step up and play like we know we can play then hopefully we’ll go there and get the result.”
