Shaun Wane paid credit to Hull KR after his side had to score three late tries to secure the win in the sixth round of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup.
SW on the game:
“I knew it would be tough, it always is when you come here. They’re under the pump with injuries and then had Danny (Tickle) sent off. When teams are under pressure like that they fire up and that’s what they did so fair play to them. They gave us a tough game but we’re in the next round and that’s what we wanted.”
SW on Hull KR:
“I want to give them a lot of respect. They’ve done well. They’ve lots of injuries and they lost Robbie Mulhern today too so fair play to them.”
SW on how Wigan won the game with 18 points in the final quarter:
“We just needed to be patient and show them respect. We gave some poor penalties away, our error count was high and we gave them too many pressure releases.
“It doesn’t always work your way. They put us under the pump but we have a lot of competitors.”
On next week’s Magic Weekend opponents, Warrington:
“They’re flying at the moment, it’s a big game. They pumped us when we came back from Australia and were very worthy winners, I want us to perform better than we did that night.
“Josh (Charnley) is playing well, he’s killing it. We just need to take care of him and put him under some pressure.”
Wane said that Sean O’Loughlin left the action after ten minutes with a slight pull on his calf. George Williams missed out with a minor wrist problem.
