Romain Navarrete happy to be back in the Wigan team
Navarrete makes first appearance for Wigan since returning
- Wigan beat Wakefield 30-18 at the DW Stadium with tries from Joe Burgess (3), Taulima Tautai and Tom Davies
Romain Navarrete said it was great to pull on the Cherry and White Jersey for the first time in 2018 as he made his first appearance for the Warriors since his return.
Navarrete joined the Warriors at the end of 2016 but after ten games for the First Team returned to Catalans Dragons on loan mid-way through the 2017 season. He also spent time at the Rugby League World Cup representing France.
He returned to Wigan ahead of the 2018 campaign and a series of good performances for the Warriors Reserves and on dual-reg with Swinton saw him earn his chance against Wakefield.
On his first appearance, he said: “It was great to be able to go out there. I am grateful to Shaun (Wane) for giving me the chance to come into the team and play for the first time this Season.”
The Frenchman was also pleased with his contribution: “I thought I played quite well, but it was a nervous moment coming on. I did some good things on the pitch, but there were things that I could have done better.
“I will speak to Shaun Wane though, so that I can find out where I could have improved and what went well. Hopefully, I can make the changes and get some more games now.”
Wigan came from behind twice in the match after a hard fought first half. Three converted second half tries and a penalty goal were the difference in a dominant second forty.
Speaking on the match, Navarrete said: “It was not a good first half, we made some mistakes and it was hard. The half-time talk helped and we made the changes that we talked about.”
“It was a better second half and it was good to get the win.”
