Shirt carries the names of all 52 Australians to play for Wigan
- Limited number of replica shirts now available
The playing shirt that Wigan will use in the International Double Header has been unveiled in Sydney.
An alternative version of the 2018 home kit, the shirt carries the names of the 52 Australians to play for Wigan along with a silhouette of the famous Sydney skyline.
The shirt will be used at the International Double Header on Saturday when Wigan face South Sydney Rabbitohs – the first time the two powerhouses of Rugby League have met.
The game follows on from Hull FC against St George Illawarra Dragons and will be the first time two Super League teams and NRL teams have met at the same stadium.
Warriors Executive Director, Kris Radlinski, said: “We have been made to feel very welcome here in New South Wales during our several visits over the last year and felt it important to give something back whilst honouring the Australians that have represented Wigan over the years.
“The names of Gene Miles, Pat Richards, Matty Bowen, Brett Kenny, Trent Barrett and so many more all feature on the shirt, players that bring back many great memories for Wigan fans. It’s good sometimes to look back and realise just how lucky we have been to have so many exceptional players pull on the Cherry and White jersey and to give thanks to those players.”
Sean O’Loughlin donned the shirt at the official International Double Header media launch in Sydney with the shirt officially launched at the Club’s Legends Night at The Star, Sydney.
“It was amazing to have so many of our former players with us and a night we will all remember for a long time. Each former player was presented with a jersey, something I know that they will all cherish for years to come.”
A limited number of replica shirts are available now from Warriors World at the Grand Arcade and online. The shirt costs is available in adult sizes from small through to 4XL HERE costing £49 and in junior sizes YXS, XXS and XS HERE costing £37.
