Shaun Wane said Wigan were poor and disappointing after they went down to Leeds 32-16 at Headingley Carnegie Stadium.
Wane on the performance:
“We were poor and disappointing. We lacked energy, when we kicked to them their first two or three plays killed us but when we kicked to them our first two or three plays didn’t and that made a big difference on field position.
“My team has been good this year, we’ve had some real adversity and come through the other end but that was disappointing and a step back.”
On the short turnaround:
“We’ve had a few days to get ready and they looked like they had a lot more energy than us. There’s no excuse, we were beaten by the better team in every department.”
On individual performances:
“There were some good efforts, John Bateman tried and Tom Davies again did great. Some individual defensive efforts weren’t like us. We’ve got seven days to get them out of our system before we face Huddersfield next week.”
Asked if he felt Wigan needed to win every game now to finish in the top four:
“I thought that before the game and a few weeks ago! I’m not going back on anything I said, we let a major game slip away today. We will never ever give in, we’ll be in working hard and getting ready for next Friday.”
