The Wigan Warriors Community Foundation are one of more than 4,000 causes across the UK who’ve benefited from the Local Community Fund and are making a difference in their local community.
The Co-op’s Local Community Fund is a nationwide initiative created to give something back to the local communities in which Co-op operates. As a member, every time you shop at Co-op, 1% of what you spend on own brand products and services goes to the Co-op Local Community Fund. This money, along with money raised from carrier bag sales, is used to support local projects that benefit the community close to where you live.
Over the last 6 months, Wigan Warriors Community Foundation where fortunate enough to be selected as one of the Orrell Co-operative Food stores 3 chosen community charities in a project aimed at providing free engaging community activities to improve social inclusion, health, food poverty and employment.
“Co-op members have already earned over £9 million for over 4,000 local causes. The Co-op Local Community Fund is our way of giving back to our millions of members and their communities - providing funding to local causes that our members care about”.
The Foundation has been awarded a total of £1,918.50 from the Local Community Fund and would like to thank all of those co-op members, customers and The Co-op Food store in Orrell’s staff who chose and helped us to achieve such a amazing figure.
