Wigan Warriors Under-16s were held to a 24-24 draw by Leeds Rhinos Under-16s at the Fairhurst Accountants Community Stadium in Orrell on Saturday afternoon.

Umyla Hanley started on the wing for Wigan while Bulgarian-born Ethan Havard started at prop. Luke Dale also featured in the halves.

The Warriors were without Morgan Smithies, Oliver Waite, Amir Bourouh, Reece Hamlet, Ryan Forshaw and Max Roberts who all played in England Youth’s victory over France on Good Friday.

Jack Bibby put Wigan in the lead early on but Leeds went in front midway through the first-half thanks to efforts from Harry Mitchell and Ben Markland. The Warriors pulled one back through Ben Holcroft but trailed 10-8 at the break.

The Rhinos started the second-half quickly, with Iwan Stephens scoring. Wigan then scored the next three tries through Cian Tyrer, Harry Rushton and Holcroft to go 24-16 in front.

Leeds quickly replied with a converted try from Harry Georgiou and Harry Anderson kicked a penalty goal with a minute left to snatch a 24-24 draw for his side.
