  • Pre-match military celebration set to take place ahead of next Sunday’s St George’s Day fixture against Catalans Dragons

  • Members and veterans of the Armed Forces set to receive a complimentary ticket on production of their Armed Forces Discount Card

A pre-match military celebration will take place ahead of next Sunday’s fixture against Catalans Dragons as part of Wigan Warriors’ commitment to sign the Armed Forces Covenant.

The handover of the covenant will take place at half-time, whilst the Club are also working with the Armed Forces community to deliver a rousing pre-match celebration, more details of which will be announced in the coming days.

The pre-match display will include an abseil from the Royal Marines whilst the teams will be welcomed onto the field by an archway formed of two artillery guns curtesy of the 103 Regiment Royal Artillery.

Supporters will have the opportunity to try their hand at various military challenges in the Fan Village prior to kick-off with photo opportunities available with military vehicles and hardware.

To celebrate the occasion, serving personnel and veterans can benefit from a free ticket to the fixture on production of their Armed Forces Discount Card or Veterans Badge, whilst additional tickets are available for family and friends for just £15 adults and £10 juniors.

Wigan Warriors Marketing Director Simon Collinson commented,

“Wigan Warriors are a Club of strong community values so we are delighted to formally recognise the contribution of our Armed Forces by signing the Armed Forces Covenant.

“We are looking forward to working with the Armed Forces community to deliver a rousing military celebration to coincide with our fixture against Catalans, with an exciting announcement to follow.

“We are sure that our supporters will join us to pay tribute to our Armed Forces on Sunday 23rd April and likewise, we hope to see as many serving personnel and veterans at the DW Stadium for what promises to be a fantastic afternoon.”

By signing the Covenant, Wigan Warriors will recognise the value that serving personnel, both regular and reservists, veterans and military families contribute to the Club and our country.

Wigan Warriors face Catalans Dragons at the DW Stadium on Sunday 23rd April with a pre-match military celebration set to take place alongside an action-packed line-up of live music and family entertainment.

Members and veterans of the Armed Forces can redeem their free ticket on production of their Armed Forces Discount Card at the DW Stadium Ticket Office (from Tuesday).
