Successful Business Club event held at Hotel Football, Manchester
Members given great insight into Warriors recruitment

The latest Wigan Warriors Business Club event took place at Hotel Football, Manchester on Monday, giving members a rare behind the scenes insight into the Club’s recruitment.
The evening offered a genuine fly on the wall experience as the Club looked to finalise the recruitment of the next generation of Wigan Warriors and Super League stars.
Members saw first-hand Club officials including Head of Youth Matty Peet and Head Coach Shaun Wane talk through their pride for the Club’s immensely successful Academy system which has produced 18 debutants since 2013.
Outlining their ambitions for the Club’s next generation of Academy recruits, Peet explained how from the 13 players who made up the Class of 2012, seven went on to make their Wigan debut, a further three gained professional contracts elsewhere whilst two have represented England.
Director of Performance Mark Bitcon and Player Welfare Mick Farrell also outlined the various support mechanisms in place to develop Academy players both on and off the field.
After a thought provoking presentation, Business Club Members had the opportunity to put their recruitment-focused questions to the panel.
The next Business Club is titled Man Management: Tools for Success with Peninsula Business Services and will take place at Fairhurst Accountants Community Stadium, Orrell on the evening of Wednesday 6th July.
This event will provide a unique opportunity to hear about the unseen planning and preparation that happens during the squad’s working week prior to matchday.
