I hope all of you who travelled to Newcastle for Magic Weekend enjoyed the trip, and of course the win over Leeds! The boys worked really hard in training that week, watching videos and working on some specifics on the training field following the defeat to Hull. I think the preparation and the atmosphere created by the travelling fans showed on the field as we put on a good display, and more importantly got another win over Leeds at Magic.
I was gutted not to be a part of the win, but I picked up an injury and it meant that I couldn’t be there to help the team. In the past few weeks I’ve been going in for tackles and coming off with some stingers in my arms, I missed a game with a ban but coming back from that I was still getting the effects on my arms. I also got hit with a crusher during the Hull game which didn’t help.
I’ve been to see the doctor and they confirmed that I’ve got some stress on my neck that’s pressing on my spinal cord. I’m having an operation to release that within the next week, so I’ll be missing training for a short while. After that it could be around 3 months before I get back to full fitness and ready to start some matches again, it’s a long time and it’s a frustrating one too but it’s a big operation and I just want to get it sorted.
I’m focusing on getting the injury sorted first, I don’t want to rush back into playing the game and risk anything happening again. It’s a test of patience but I’ll be back on the pitch as soon as I can.
The boys are away at Castleford this week, I’ll be there showing my support on the side-lines, but they’ve been hard at it once again and we’re looking to continue the form now. We’ve shown some inconsistency so far this season, which is not the team we want to be. We always play to be the best, and now we’ve got a solid win under our belts, we want to continue that.
Take care, Clubby.
